Volunteering for outdoor renovation projects
Every year, ANGLICARE helps many thousands of people through programs at our various child and family services, aged care, residential and day care facilities. These facilities require constant upkeep for the benefit of clients, residents, volunteers, staff and visitors. Our corporate volunteers enable us to provide extra attention to areas in need of a makeover or some extra TLC. Companies can contribute to the work of ANGLICARE by allowing employees to use their volunteer days to do a spot of gardening; renovate play equipment or paint the inside of a cottage used by our clients for respite care.
Garden bed formwork and planning of shrubs by staff of Goldman Sachs JB-Were at the Community Care Centre at Mt Druitt
Volunteers from Goldman Sachs JB-Were did some heavy gardening at the ANGLICARE Community Care Centre located in Mount Druitt. The team of four able-bodied men came for an entire day and built a garden bed from scratch, weeded the front entrance area of the centre and planted rows of shrubs.
“The centre needs lots of work done in a number of areas since we moved in during March of 2009 and having a group of volunteers to brighten the place is most welcomed,” said Alice Wheatley, Regional Manager at Mount Druitt.
Our thanks go to those corporate volunteers who came and worked so hard for the day.

Painting of the children’s play equipment and surrounds at the Community Care Centre in Bondi
Volunteers from ANZ Bank’s Martin Place office participated in a volunteer day at ANGLICARE’s Community Care Centre in Bondi. Their contribution helped to brighten the area just prior to ANGLICARE’s Care2Run campaign for the City2Surf fun run.
The team of seven painted a cubby house and two park benches used by ANGLICARE clients and their children. They also restored the Centre’s fences and gates.
The volunteers said that they, “enjoyed supporting ANGLICARE in a practical way which directly assisted our clients”. Ms Jill Wrathall, Regional Manager at Bondi, gave an insight when she spoke to the volunteers about the Centre’s many programs.
Our thanks go to the ANZ staff who came, provided their services and worked hard for the day.
