ANGLICARE Moves to the Heart of Penrith
For three years the ANGLICARE Community Care Centre Nepean was located on Coombes drive in one of Penrith’s industrial estates. This isolated area made it difficult for clients and carers to seek and access ANGLICARE’s assistance.
Now, help for people in crisis, requiring friendship and needing hope can be found right in the heart of the Nepean region. The newly relocated ANGLICARE Community Care Centre is now on the main strip of Penrith, at 396 High Street. Co-locating with the Community Care Centre is the ANGLICARE Shop.
To commemorate the move on Tuesday May 20, ANGLICARE held an official opening celebration. At least one hundred people attended the morning tea with guests including; ANGLICARE Sydney CEO, Peter Kell, Community Care Centre Nepean Manager, Anne Bouboulas, Bishop of Western Sydney, Ivan Lee and many other ANGLICARE staff and volunteers.
The Mayor of Penrith, Greg Davies was also in attendance, as were Allan Shearan – State Member for Londonderry, Karyn Paluzzano – State Member for Penrith, David Bradbury – Federal Member for Lindsay and Diane Beamer – State Member for Mulgoa.
Anne Bouboulas, Manger of ANGLICARE’s Community Care Centre Nepean, says the new ease of access to the centre will definitely be welcomed by the local community.
“We are now more accessible to clients, carers and the wider community, as well as other service providers. We are close to public transport and much more visible on the main street of Penrith” said Anne Bouboulas.
ANGLICARE Sydney CEO, Peter Kell, says the move will not only create trouble-free access to assistance, but the new premises will also help to provide more space for the organisation to grow both in services offered and staff morale.
“The co-location of the Community Care Centre with the Penrith Shop will further enhance the strong sense of culture and teamwork that exists within the ANGLICARE organisation” said Mr Kell.
The Nepean ANGLICARE Community Care Centre will provide nine community care programs, including the Commonwealth Carer and Carelink Centre, the Mental Health Respite Program, a range of case management programs and Families NSW Early Intervention.
