BAG-A-BARGAIN AT THE NEW ROSEMEADOW ANGLICARE SHOP!

The newest ANGLICARE Shop was opened last week in Rosemeadow in Sydney’s south-west.

With household budgets stretched by higher petrol prices, rising rents and growing grocery costs, Australian’s are heading back to op shops as a way of saving money and finding the latest vintage fashion at an affordable price.

Vintage fashion may be trendy again, but ANGLICARE Sydney CEO, Peter Kell, says the new shop is meeting a real and deeper need in the area.

“Trends in fashion, come and go, but the need for affordable, good quality second-hand clothing has always been there, particularly for families who find themselves struggling to pay bills and feed the family,” Mr. Kell said.

The new ANGLICARE Shop is located at Shop 12, Copperfield Drive, Rosemeadow Marketplace. The central location provides easy access to those who may need to purchase good quality, inexpensive clothing for their families.

While the shop has been operating in Rosemeadow for the last month, it was officially opened last week The opening celebration was attended by around 50 people, including ANGLICARE Sydney’s CEO, Peter Kell; the Anglican Bishop of Wollongong, Al Stewart, and; the Rector of Rosemeadow Anglican Church, Reverend David Cole.

Campbelltown City Mayor, Aaron Rule and Local Member for Wollondilly and Minister for Water, Rural Affairs and Regional Development, Phillip Costa were also in attendance.

Minister Costa enjoyed being a part of the opening and says the new Shop is an excellent initiative to help support the communities of Rosemeadow, Ambarvale, St Helen’s Park and surrounds.

“I was very happy to be a part of this important occasion. The ANGLICARE Rosemeadow Shop is a great enterprise that will certainly help locals to clothe their families at an affordable price, whilst also providing a platform to assist those who are doing it tough in our community,” Mr. Costa said.

The Rosemeadow ANGLICARE Shop is an integral part of a new Shop strategy where ANGLICARE Shops and the local Anglican Parishes work together to reach the community.

“While the Rosemeadow shop is the latest in a long line of ANGLICARE shops, it is fairly unique in the sense that it is only here as a result of a strategic partnership between ANGLICARE and the Anglican Parish of Rosemeadow. Strategic, because this shop also serves as a shopfront for the Rosemeadow church, staffed by church members,” Sydney ANGLICARE CEO, Peter Kell said.

ANGLICARE Sydney has been running opportunity shops for nearly fifty years. But over the years staff and volunteers in the shops have discovered that the sale of clothing is only a small part of what an ANGLICARE Shop provides.

“It is great the Shop sells good quality, affordable clothing but it also offers a place for locals to go if they just need someone to chat to during rough times,” Reverend David Cole, the Rector of Rosemeadow Anglican Church said.

“The Shop in partnership with Rosemeadow Anglican Church is hoping to provide front line ministry by working together to help those lacking the resources or ability, for whatever reason, to deal with day to day life,” Reverend Cole said.

ANGLICARE Rosemeadow Shop Manager, Lyn Nellies, says the people of the Rosemeadow district are really excited about the new store in town.

“We have received so much positive feedback already. People don’t believe the clothes and accessories are recycled because they are of such good quality.  We just love the shop and the various forms of assistance it is offering to the residents in the area,” Ms Nellies said.

So head down to the ANGLICARE Rosemeadow Shop this week and receive 50% off any blue ticketed item of clothing.
