Lives changing and communities growing by care through Jesus Christ

Jannali Centre heralds a new era in Chesalon Aged Care

After two years in development and construction, Chesalon Jannali Aged Care Centre was officially opened on Tuesday, 28 April.

Overlooking Botany Bay, the previous 52 bed nursing home has been completely transformed to a multi-level aged care centre equipped to look after 127 residents.

The new centre also incorporates a respite day centre, low care, dementia specific and high care, with the option of extra services, home based services. The new aged care centre will benefit more than 500 frail aged in the St George and Sutherland Shire region and create an estimated 70 new jobs.

For more than sixty years ANGLICARE’s Chesalon Living has provided Christian care to the frail aged and elderly in the community and according to Joy Watt, the foundations of that care remains unchanged.

Renowned for high quality aged care Chesalon Jannali will introduce a unique approach with alternate and holistic style care, where staff work with residents to fulfill the residents’ personal lifestyle needs.

“There is a new cultural shift within aged care that looks at caring for people holistically. Not only are we concerned with treating a person’s immediate physical needs, but also other factors that can affect their wellbeing,” Joy says.

Rob Evers Director of ANGLICARE Chesalon Aged Services highlights that the completed Chesalon Jannali Aged Care Centre is the first of many Chesalon facilities to be redeveloped.

“Projects like Chesalon Jannali,” says Rob, “is the fulfilment of our strategy to broaden our service delivery model to provide care support to seniors in whatever accommodation setting they choose. This could be their own home, in villas or apartments that we will provide in well-designed communities for seniors’ living, in serviced apartments or in residential aged care.

“Other projects are being currently being designed to incorporate residential aged care as well as a Day Centre and capacity for delivering community aged care services.  These are indeed very exciting projects that demonstrate Chesalon’s commitment to the long term delivery of viable seniors living and both residential and community aged care.”
