Music for ANGLICARE

There’ll be music in the halls of St Anne’s Anglican Church Ryde on Sunday, 27 November, in support of ANGLICARE and TEAR in the lead up to Christmas.

Barber shop singers SydneySiders Express, rock band Oldplay and contemporary pianist Rachel Burke have come together to form an “Eclectic Mix” – a musical fundraiser for the two charities.

Over the years, SydneySiders Express has raised more than $130,000 for the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Old Play is a group of friends who like to support a good cause with rock ‘n’ roll from the 60s and 70s. Rachel Burke will throw some original contemporary piano pieces into the mix on the day.

Organisers of the event are keen to offer the musical experience as a way to raise awareness and much needed funds for global poverty and local needs.

According to Senior Minister at St Anne’s and Oldplay band member, Greg Burke, the event stems from a Christian response to God’s generosity to us.

“Part of our missions involvement is to look to the needs of others beyond our own church community,” says Greg.

“It is part of our Christian response. In response to God’s generosity to us, we are called to be generous to others. The love of God compels us to both preach His word and meet people’s needs.”

The concert “Eclectic Mix” will be held at St Anne’s Anglican Church, Ryde on Sunday 27 November at 2:30pm. Tickets are $10 and are available from the church office on 9809 1322 or they can be purchased at the door.

Old Play is also offering to play at a function for the highest bidder in a silent auction to be held on the day. The proceeds will be split between TEAR and ANGLICARE Sydney.
