North Sydney Easter music concert raises $2500 for those in need

On Saturday, 4 April a group of talented singers and musicians performed an array of sacred musical pieces at St Thomas’ Anglican Church North Sydney.
Over $2500 was raised at the event for ANGLICARE’s Winter Appeal.
Fundraising Manager for ANGLICARE, Gabriel Lacoba, says the concert was a great success with all aims being well exceeded.
“It was a fantastic night. We had 95 people in attendance, which was more than what we expected and then to raise in excess of $2500 for those who will be struggling during winter really blew me away,
“I know our country is in an economic crisis but to see the number of donations made to ANGLICARE on the night really showed the generous hearts and hands in the North Sydney community”, Mr Lacoba said.
'The concert program consisted of arias and ensembles taken from larger works including Bach's St Matthew Passion, Handel's Messiah and Mozart's Requiem.
Event organiser and St Thomas’ church member, Sophia Mitchell, says it is exciting to use your God-given talents to help others.
“People often feel that musical talent is a gift. I want to use my gift to help others in spiritual and physical need,
“The concert was called ‘Music for Easter’, because all the music points to God and His son Jesus. I am hoping that some people heard the special words of the music, perhaps for the first time at the concert”, Ms Mitchell said.
