Anglicare responds to Government report on Homelessness
ANGLICARE Sydney has made a submission in response to the Federal Government's Green Paper on homelessness. In short, ANGLICARE's submission advocates an injection of funding to address the shortfall in the provision of emergency accommodation, short and medium term housing and support services for people experiencing homelessness.
In response to the Government's three options for addressing homelessness outlined in the Green Paper, ANGLICARE favours an approach that provides a continuum of care. This approach would involve an emphasis upon early intervention and prevention programs to reduce the potential for homelessness, integrated case management to provide consistent care if homelessness occurs, and transition to independent living where possible.
The Federal Government intends to release a White Paper in September 2008 that will set out a national plan of action.
