Anglicare Sydney responds to the Proposed National Child Protection Framework
ANGLICARE Sydney has made a submission in response to the Federal Government’s consultation on a national framework for protecting children in Australia. In summary, ANGLICARE Sydney’s submission is supportive of efforts to establish a national framework to ensure consistency and standards across Australia and to ensure better communication between jurisdictions.
ANGLICARE Sydney supports a number of the strategies proposed by the Government, including: a stronger prevention focus; measures to achieve better collaboration between services; coordinated service delivery with regard to domestic violence initiatives; the development of national standards aimed at ensuring all children in out-of-home care receive adequate care and protection; and a number of recommendations around improving current child protection systems.
The Federal Government intends to have a framework ready by the end of this year, with its implementation expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
