Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy has been part of Christian ministry in Australia since the first fleet. Today, ANGLICARE chaplains serve in general hospitals, mental health facilities, prisons, juvenile justice centres and Chesalon nursing homes.
Chaplains bring:
- Compassionate Christian care to people facing deeply distressing and traumatic situations.
- The message of hope and life through Jesus Christ to people facing sickness and death
- The message of life-changing freedom through Jesus Christ to people facing a custodial sentence or destructive lifestyles.
- A ministry of word, sacrament and prayer to people who may never darken the door of a church.
Each day, chaplains encounter people with little or no church association; because of their circumstances, they may be especially open to thinking about God, and where he fits into their lives.
Chaplains undertake Christian ministry in places and in ways that other Christians and local churches do not have opportunity.
