Disaster Recovery

Overview
Major emergencies provide opportunities for Christians to respond with compassion; touching the lives of those affected, with love and care, in Christ's name. ANGLICARE is one of a number of organisations, working as a community partner, to provide an effective and co-ordinated response when major emergencies occur. ANGLICARE provides practical support, hope and encouragement to those affected by disaster.
ANGLICARE’s aim is to enhance our gospel ministry and practical effectiveness, by being well prepared to act when required.
Training and preparation
In partnership with the Anglican community, ANGLICARE’s Disaster Recovery offers:
- Assistance in caring for individuals and communities affected by major emergencies, including: bushfires, floods, storms, drought and unexpected high-impact incidents.
- Training to heighten the understanding of emergency management, and human needs during a disaster.
- The development and implementation of the Anglican Diocesan Emergency Plan (ADEP).
Our Disaster Recovery teams consist of local groups of trained volunteers, who play a vital role in delivering care and assistance to those affected by disasters. One-day workshops provide an understanding of ADEP, including emergency management arrangements, disaster recovery and the role of these teams in providing support.

Training and workshops
ANGLICARE holds workshops for volunteers wishing to help those facing the trauma of disasters such as fire, terrorism, hailstorms, etc. Volunteers learn practical ways to help those affected, and to gain an understanding of the Anglican community's role within the State Disaster Recovery Plan.
