Message from our CEO
Do you ever wonder if your work for God is worthwhile or making a difference? In this newsletter you’ll read about Muriel who’s been volunteering as an ‘English as a Second Language’ teacher for 25 years, and Heather who’s been volunteering with our Disaster Recovery team for 22 years. There are other volunteer stories too.
We really appreciate our volunteers who give their time and energy in the loving service of others. Their care and passion adds enormous value to Anglicare’s work and to the communities we serve.
Sometimes Christians can work hard, but don’t see the ‘fruit of their labours’. This can lead to frustration or discouragement. That’s why the Apostle Paul encouraged the early Christian Churches by saying: “Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
It’s reassuring to know that when we seek to serve God faithfully, and persevere, nothing we do for him is ever lost, wasted or useless. This truth can strengthen our resolve and sustain us in our work. We can keep on going, filling our days with the things that count for Jesus.
