Foster care stories

The figures are staggering. At any point in time, around 18,000 children in NSW alone are in foster care. And every week, Anglicare Sydney receives over 100 requests to provide a safe home for a child in crisis.

If you are adaptable and flexible and have a deep desire to make a difference in a child’s life… then you have the makings of a WONDERFUL foster carer!

Your love in action: transforming lives through foster Care

Children need carers who enjoy spending time with them and who can provide a nurturing home environment. Especially foster children, who may have complex needs due to neglect or abuse.

Anglicare Sydney provides ongoing carer training to help equip you for the very important role you will have in your foster child’s life. All foster carers are approved with a child’s best interest in mind.

You could make a great foster carer if you have:

  • the ability to provide a stable, safe and caring home environment
  • availability to care for a child and prioritise their needs
  • commitment
  • patience
  • flexibility
  • understanding and warmth
  • a good sense of humour
  • a caring and compassionate nature
  • a strong desire to make a difference in a child’s life.
