Fairy bread, party pies, lollies and chips. All the food a ten year old would love for his or her birthday were served up at Anglicare Glenhaven Green’s 10 year anniversary on Thursday, 25 January.
Residents of the village, resplendent in their home made party hats, joined Anglicare CEO, Grant Millard and staff, to celebrate this milestone in the Hills Shire community.
Gordon and Jan Watts were the first residents at the village when it opened ten years ago. They have previously lived near the village and saw its development from the start. They registered their interest after going to an open day and were offered a place when it became available. Now in their 80s, Jan says moving to the village when they did was a real blessing in disguise.
“We are very happy here,” Jan explains. “It will always be a friendly village. When we first moved in, the place was smaller but it still had a wonderful atmosphere. We have lovely neighbours. In the early days we would spend time in each other’s garages just talking and enjoying their company.”
