A Message of Condolence on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll
It is with much sorrow that we have learned of the passing of our Sovereign Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll at the age of 96.
Her Majesty’s 70-year reign was the affirmation of a life of service, devotion, and faith. Hers was a reign of genuine servant leadership and her passing leaves us with a profound sadness.
Among her many roles, Her Majesty was the Defender of the Faith. She often reflected publicly on the perspective and solace that her faith brought to her, more especially during her much-loved Christmas broadcasts.
In her 2014 Christmas broadcast Her Majesty spoke of what she had learned from the teaching of Jesus: “ for me the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace is an inspiration and anchor in my life. A role model of reconciliation and forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing. Christ’s example has taught me to respect and value all people of whatever faith, or none. “
Anglicare offers our deepest condolences and encourages all those that are sad or moved by the news of Her Majesty’s passing to join with us in prayer from the Book of Common prayer:
“O Lord, our heavenly father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth. Most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth; and so replenish her with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that she may always incline to thy will and walk in thy way. Endue her plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant her in health and wealth long to live, strengthen her that she may vanquish and overcome her enemies; and finally, after this life she may attain everlasting joy and felicity. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen”
Requiescet in pace. God Save the King.
