Quality, low-cost food is coming to Bomaderry thanks to a partnership between St Stephen’s Anglican Church and Anglicare.
The Mobile Community Pantry, stocked with household pantry items, will be arriving at the corner of the Princes Hwy & West Birriley St every fortnight from 26 February 2020 from 10:30-11:30am. For a $10 contribution, anyone who needs to stretch their budget further will be able to take home a shopping bag full of food valued at up to $60.
“There is a real and growing need for affordable groceries in Bomaderry,” says local coordinator Bob Jessep. “Our partnership with Anglicare has given us the opportunity to provide this valuable service to the community.”
“We hope that the Mobile Community Pantry can assist those in need by providing access to cheap groceries, but also by providing a place where they can feel comfortable to stay and talk, and enjoy some morning tea with us,” Bob explains.
The Mobile Community Pantry will extend Anglicare’s services in the Shoalhaven, supplementing the Pantry at All Saints Anglican Church in Nowra, as well as the Op Shops in both Nowra and Bomaderry.
“The Mobile Community Pantry gives us the opportunity to reach out into the local community and share the love of Jesus with them in practical ways,” says Bob.
