Catastrophic fire conditions are forecast for Sydney and its surrounds on Tuesday 12 November 2019. The NSW Rural Fire Service warned that worsening weather conditions, including extreme heat (37o-38oC), strong winds and low humidity, will mean as well as Sydney's ''catastrophic'' conditions, large areas of the state will experience ''severe'' and ''extreme'' fire danger.
Any funds you donate to Anglicare to support the victims of bushfires will be provided as required to our Food and Financial Services sites to provide material aid to those bushfire victims who need support and who are accessing our services. Anglicare will ensure that any donated funds not used in this way will be ethically and transparently distributed specifically to bushfire victims as quickly as possible.
Anglicare is undergoing preparations in order to support services, staff and the community should the forecast catastrophic conditions eventuate.
We would like to highlight the hard work and commitment of our Disaster Recovery volunteers who will be manning Evacuation Centres across NSW. They provide material support, comfort and care to those who are often traumatised and in shock. We are grateful for their training and the time they give for such a significant ministry.
