Anglicare Sydney and Blacktown Anglican Church, have teamed up to provide low-cost food for those in need in the community.
Stocked with household pantry items, Anglicare Sydney’s Mobile Community Pantry now operates at the Cnr Richmond Road and Orallo Avenue, every second Monday to distribute food from 10 am – 11 am.
For a $10 contribution, families who need to stretch their budget further will be able to take home a shopping bag full of food worth about $60.
Local co-ordinators, Pat and Dave Kinnear, said “we’re delighted to see many Blacktown residents come and get groceries, and it’s great to chat with them over a cuppa and cake either before or after they’ve done their shopping. We’ve got room for lots more shoppers so we hope to see many more people come in the future.
”The Pantry has been operating at Blacktown Anglican Church for almost two months and shoppers are happy to be able to supplement their own pantries with food “staples” as well as some treats. A full list of dates can be obtained by phoning Blacktown Anglican on 9831 5454 or visit www.anglicare.org.au.
The Pantry is also available at Doonside Anglican Church, Cnr Hill End Road and Cameron Street, Doonside from 10.00am to 11.00am on alternate Mondays.
