Anglicare Sydney will officially take over the operations of Ark Health Care at Parramatta on Monday 9 July. Anglicare will liaise with the aged care home to ensure the well-being of the residents, a smooth transition, and minimal disruption to the residents’ daily life.
A specialist team from Anglicare will work to remedy the compliance issues, ensuring the residents are safe and well cared for. This team will continue to work with the care staff through the re-accreditation process until full accreditation is achieved in the coming months. The sanction on the aged care residence will be lifted with Anglicare’s ownership.
“Taking over this aged care home is an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of 110 residents. Anglicare has been serving the community since 1856 and providing residential aged care for over 65 years. We have a long history of providing quality care for older people, and especially for the frail and vulnerable,” says Ross Pendlebury, Anglicare Corporate Executive General Manager.
“The situation must be unsettling for everyone concerned. So we will be meeting with staff, residents and their families to reassure them, and explain Anglicare’s plans for the home.
“Our priority is that every resident feels safe, is always valued, and treated with dignity and respect. We also want to ensure the care staff feel supported, so they can focus on providing for the needs of the residents.”
Anglicare Sydney, a Christian non-profit organisation, operates 22 Retirement Living Villages; 21 Residential Aged Care Homes; and four Housing Assistance properties providing low cost rental properties for older people at risk of homelessness.
Along with Anglicare, the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, the Department of Health and ARK representatives will attend the meeting with ARK care staff, residents and their families.
