Anglicare is looking to provide affordable housing in areas that need it most. The organisation has begun work on more affordable accommodation in Corrimal for those aged 55 and over.
“Anglicare has provided affordable accommodation for people in financial need for decades. This new project builds on that long history of care for those who need it,” says Rob Burnelek, Anglicare General Manager of Housing.
The development application recently approved by Wollongong City Council is for 28 studio and one-bedroom units designed by award winning Architects Group GSA.
Facilities will include a retail area, internal communal space, BBQ facilities, communal spaces and onsite parking. The building will be close to amenities such as Services NSW, Centrelink, the post office, Coles, cafes, RSL and speciality stores.
“Anglicare’s development at Corrimal will seek to provide high quality affordable housing as well as support services for residents. We also want to create a safe environment where renters can foster meaningful connections with the wider community.”
The project is a key strategic development for Anglicare and a wide range of the services that Anglicare delivers.
Anglicare has been delivering services within the greater local area for many years and the significant investment of this development demonstrates Anglicare’s long-term commitment to supporting and enriching the local community.
