Anglicare Sydney is aware of reports that people have been posing as Anglicare volunteers across the Albury and Holbrook regions of southern NSW.
It is reported that someone has been driving around in a white van and offering food packages (consisting of a small plastic bag with an apple, a juice box and a small bag of chips) to people in their homes or as they evacuate.
Anglicare volunteers are not involved in this activity. At this stage our volunteers are working at evacuation centres providing support to people affected by bushfires.
Anglicare volunteers always carry photo ID and wear an Anglicare tee-shirt and tabard.
We encourage residents to ask to see identification from anyone claiming to be an Anglicare volunteer, and if you suspect or witness any illegal activity please call the police.
