Anglicare Sydney would like to clarify media speculation in relation to its current notified cyber security breach on the part of the Daily Telegraph.
The emphasis of the article is that sensitive data about children in Anglicare Sydney’s care is at risk as a result of the cyber security breach.
The main system relating to Anglicare Sydney’s Out of Home Care program, which includes the Foster Care program, was not impacted.
We have been in contact with the Daily Telegraph and outlined our concerns. The Daily Telegraph has relied on statements made over two weeks ago in the first few days following the incident. Such statements are now out of date since any ongoing external threat to Anglicare’s network has been mitigated.
Anglicare Sydney continues to work closely with cyber security specialists, form response plans and investigate and further remediate the impact.
We are concerned that these any inaccuracies and misleading reporting can cause unnecessary harm and distress to some of the most vulnerable people in our care.
