Empowering the Next Generation: Take Love in Action

Care NewsSeptember 1, 2025

Take Love is an inspiring program we run in schools and youth groups for students up to 18 years old to build empathy and understanding in the next generation.

Among the many programs we run, "Beyond These Walls" is a facilitated process combined with a simulation app that allows students to step into the shoes of people in hardship and make choices on their behalf. In the process of this simulation, they realise how difficult it can when people find themselves in multiple challenges at the same time.

Another is, "Before It Starts", a workshop that provides an opportunity to reflect on beliefs, attitudes and behaviours from a biblical perspective. It explains different forms of abuse, provides guidance on how to recognise and respond to unhealthy relationships, suggests avenues for getting help and provides key information for leaders on how to respond to disclosures of abuse.

These are just two of the innovative ways we are engaging young people.

In 2025, we've seen remarkable growth, with almost 500 students volunteering in a variety of roles, from Anglicare's Op Shops and Food and Financial Assistance warehouses to local churches and residential villages. These volunteering projects are as much for the community as they are for the students themselves. What the students experience leads them to have a deeper understanding of the trials and hardship people in their communities are experiencing, challenges they may have never imagined facing in their own lives.

Through Take Love, we aim to ignite a passion among young Christians, inspiring them to take the love they've received in Jesus and spread it wherever they go. It's a movement of heart and action that's shaping a generation of leaders for tomorrow.

Throughout 2024, Take Love engaged with over 2,180 students and youth in our programs while inspiring service and compassion through hands on learning experiences. We raised over $57,000 and spoke at over 30 events reaching thousands more young people. Beyond These Walls, our simulation app received the National Anglicare Award for Innovation.

Anglicare acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original and ongoing custodians of the lands and waters on which we live and work.

Inspired by the gospel of reconciliation in Jesus Christ, Anglicare's vision for reconciliation is a nation in which Australia's First Peoples are restored in dignity, respect, empowerment and opportunity.
