Grit and Grace in Every Season

Care NewsMay 23, 2025

Do you ever find yourself struggling to switch off at the end of the day?

This can be true, even when we have passion for our calling. At Anglicare, we see urgent needs in our society, and our mission to respond is vital. God, in His wisdom, designed life to flow in rhythms, seasons of activity and rest, of giving and receiving. Grit and grace in conversation with each other.

When I pause to rest, spending moments with family and watching my grandchildren play, I'm reminded of the balance that shapes our lives and work. I remain grateful for the privilege of serving alongside my team. I'm grateful for God's design and invitation to teach us to pause, to rest, and to be renewed and trust God.

Ecclesiastes says, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens" (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NIV). Yet, discerning when to lean in and when to step back requires listening to God's voice. Jesus, during His ministry, withdrew to pray, showing us that leaning in is only sustainable when balanced with rest.

We see this rhythm at play every day. Whether stepping forward with grit or stepping back to rest in grace, we know we are not alone. God has designed community to function with rhythm too: our gifts complement each other and we are here to share the load.

I see the people working on our frontlines and them knowing they have your support allows them to do what they are called to do; serve those in need and share the love of God.

As we are approach winter many of us feel the desire to rest. Thank you for your continual generosity to those in need.

Whatever you face today, may you listen to the rhythms of God's creation, and may you know when to pause and when to step forward, with the knowledge of God's presence in both.

Thank you for your grit and your grace as we continue to serve together side by side.

Grace and peace.
