Finding residential aged care that feels like home is one of the most important decisions you can make. Home is where you feel safe, comfortable, and surrounded by familiar memories. At Brian King Gardens, what makes this residential aged care home truly special is how it eases that transition—offering not just quality care and support, but a warm, safe and welcoming environment where you can feel a genuine sense of belonging.
From social groups to the nurses, carers and chaplaincy support, the care goes beyond the practical; it’s personal, thoughtful, and centred in dignity and respect. In this article, we’ll share with you what life feels like at Brian King Gardens and why so many residents and their families feel at home here.
After moving into Brian King Gardens, Gilbert’s falls have reduced, and his health has improved. His wife and family are much happier, knowing he’s getting the care he needs. “My overall quality of life has improved, and I am having fewer medical problems” he says.
That sense of safety has been matched by genuine connection. Gilbert often joins the men’s group, something he looks forward to each week. “I really do enjoy catching up with my friends in the men's group,” he says. Whether they’re playing bocce, sharing cake, or enjoying a soft drink together, Gilbert loves the camaraderie. “It’s much nicer than being on your own. [It’s] beautiful.”
It’s not just the social connection that stands out to Gilbert. For him, the staff make just as much of a difference. “I find the staff very friendly here,” he says. “You've got some wonderful people who work in this place […] I feel the staff are very, very positive.”
Rosalie, another resident at Brian King Gardens, has found her new home. “I have met some really nice friends here,” she shares. One of her favourite parts of the week is the Landmark Ladies group, a women’s social group that offers laughter, support, and a place to belong. “They are a great group of women and they're welcoming to new people.” she says.
Alongside the friendships, it’s the staff who’ve made a lasting impression on Rosalie. “The staff of Brian King Gardens are really fantastic. I'm very happy with them all,” she says. “I [...] really love the care I get.”
And when asked how it feels to live here now, Rosalie doesn’t hesitate. “It does feel like home now. I like it a lot. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.”
At Brian King Gardens, care goes beyond the physical. It’s about recognising the whole person – what matters to them, how they’re feeling, and what brings them comfort and peace.
Bruce, the Chaplain, does more than lead chapel services. From the moment someone moves in, he’s ready to offer support to residents and their families. “It can be quite an overwhelming time and a lot of change and a lot of emotion,” Bruce says he is there to have a chat and offer some reassurance as residents begin to settle into their new community at Brian King Gardens.
He adds, “It’s an immense privilege to be sharing people’s [...] days and moments.” Some days that may be sitting quietly with someone who needs company. Other times, it’s sharing a joke in the hallway, bringing lightness to someone’s day.
It’s this mix of compassion, consistency and respect that helps residents feel truly cared for. Whether someone is navigating change, needing support, or simply looking for a sense of connection - emotional and spiritual care at Brian King Gardens is available.
What makes Brian King Gardens feel like home isn’t just the warm environment, or the bright rooms and leafy gardens. It’s the everyday moments that continue here. Residents bring in photo albums, ornaments and little pieces of their past to make their space truly theirs. Families pop in for visits, grabbing coffee downstairs or sitting outside in the courtyard while the grandkids run around in the playground.
There are welcoming spaces to gather, chat and laugh, with groups like the Landmark Ladies and men’s club offering genuine connection and friendship. And because care here is person-centred, residents are supported in ways that reflect who they are; their routines, their preferences and what matters most to them.
