Refer a member of your church or network for a strategic role at Anglicare

Anglicare’s vision is to “see Jesus Christ honoured, lives enriched and communities strengthened”.

We need your help to achieve this. We want to partner with parishes in the Sydney Diocese to recruit capable and mission aligned church members to apply for strategic and leadership roles across Anglicare.

What’s the idea?

If a church staff member recommends a church member, or a member of their network, to apply for any of the strategic roles promoted in Anglicare’s monthly email AND if a church member applies for the referred job and gets hired, the church will receive a $1,000 incentive payment from Anglicare.

Why encourage referrals?

This initiative helps Anglicare better steward our finances by reducing recruitment agency spend and increasing mission alignment of candidates. A church that participates in this program assists us to find the best talent in Sydney, while also enabling our resources to be prioritised for gospel ministry and helping the most vulnerable.

How does it work?

Suggest role
Anglicare’s partnership development officers send church staff a monthly email that includes a link to Anglicare’s priority vacant roles for Christian leadership. Please prayerfully consider if there is anyone in your church or network who may be suitable (mission aligned and capable) who you could encourage to apply for these priority roles.

To refer someone for one of these vacancies, church staff members:

  • Click on the advertised role that will take them to the specific job at Anglicare careers page –

  • Click on the “refer a friend” button. This will email a link to the person who you are referring for the job.

  • In the “Employee Number” box type <Church Name/ Staff Member Name>

Successful hire
The referred person must apply for the job using the link in the email so that the church staff referral is captured against the person’s application for the role.

Through Anglicare’s recruitment process, the referred person will be considered no differently to any other applicant. There is no preferential treatment of candidates recommended by a church leader.
If the referred individual is offered and accepts the role applied for, Anglicare’s Talent Strategy Manager will contact the church staff member who provided the referral.

If God opens the door for them to join us, your church will receive the $1,000 incentive payment after they complete six months of probation with Anglicare.

Further provisions apply:
  • The Church Referral Program is only for permanent part-time or full-time roles that are promoted in the monthly email to churches.

  • Only church staff (not church members) are eligible to make the referral.

  • Referral incentives are only provided for members who are known and active members of the same church as the church staff at the time of the referral, or someone known to them in their church network.

  • The incentive is only for use by the church, not to be passed onto any individual involved in the referral or otherwise.

  • Referral incentives will not be provided in cases where the referring church staff member has a personal interest in the recruiting process of the candidate (e.g. have family members involved in Anglicare’s recruitment or interview process) or have any undue influence or any conflict of interest in the candidate’s appointment.

  • If a referral is made and the preferred candidate is not selected for the referred role but is subsequently selected for another role within a three (3) month period (from the date of submission), the referral incentive will still be applied to said church.
