This program is suited for anyone who is supporting older people - whether in a paid or unpaid role as well as concerned family members. Learn how to support someone experiencing thoughts of suicide and gain practical skills.

Funded by the Australian and NSW Governments and is QIP accredited against the Suicide Prevention Australia Standards.

Course Presenters

Sian Palmieri
Sian is a Program Coordinator for Anglicare's Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program. She has specialised in suicide prevention, with a personal experience driving her passion to educate and support others in this critical space. With experience working in after care and drop-in centre models and supporting individuals after a suicide attempt, Sian's passion for suicide prevention for older adults is evident in her training and facilitation of the Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program.
Nancy Gewargis
Nancy is the Program Manager for Anglicare's Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program. Nancy's role involved setting up the training and leading a team to grow the program across Australia. Since launching in late 2021, the program has grown with just under 6,000 people trained across the country and hundreds attending training and webinar sessions on a monthly basis. Nancy has extensive experience in marketing, strategic planning and program management with a passion for supporting older adults and a particular interest in mental health.
