Bushfires, floods, storms, cyclones and other disasters happen throughout Australia. When these disasters strike do you find yourself asking, “How can I help?” Partner with Anglicare today to help people impacted by situations beyond their control.
Our Disaster Recovery volunteers are trained, registered and ready to go at a moment’s notice to provide material aid and general support in evacuation and recovery centres. We also perform community outreach activities, partnering with Red Cross to provide information, give referrals and collect relevant information from communities impacted by disasters. You will be part of a local team that meets 2-3 times a year.
Disaster Recovery Volunteers don’t volunteer on a regular basis but are only called out when a disaster strikes and Anglicare gets ‘activated’ to assist.
If you would like to join Anglicare’s Disaster Recovery volunteers, or your church would like to partner with us, simply complete an expression of interest.
Please note that this expression of interest is for future emergencies, not the current flood crisis, as all of our volunteers need to undergo training before entering the field.
Anglicare is one of four recognised Community Partners of Disaster Welfare Services of the Department of Communities and Justice under NSW Emergency Management Arrangements.
Anglicare only activates its volunteers when it receives orders from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services to ensure that disaster recovery activities are coordinated and officially recognised.
