Program: Food and Financial Assistance casework

“Thank you to Anglicare who fed me when I was hungry, provided a fridge for food, supported me with loans and have been a constant source of hope mentally. I’ve gone from having no hope to feeling optimistic about life… From spending weeks in bed feeling hopeless, I’m now a student on track for high distinctions. My life has truly turned around.”

Finding my place: Empowerment through practical support

Program: Community Living Supports for Refugees

“When I first arrived in Australia, I felt lost and isolated. I struggled with depression, daily tasks and had no confidence or trust in others. My time with Anglicare has helped me so much. My case manager supported me emotionally, taught me practical skills, like using public transport and helped connect me with members of my own community. I feel more confident and independent. I travel on my own, access services and continue to receive emotional support which helps me grow.”

Impact Story

Reactions to Reflection: Nim's Story

Program: Reconnect for youth

Nim, entering his final year of school, was struggling with his relationship with his mum. He often found himself arguing with her and feeling resentful towards her. His underlying emotions of anger and sadness were impacting his relationships.

Nim was referred to Anglicare’s Reconnect program to enhance his communication skills and emotion regulation. As Nim worked with his case manager, he was able to reflect on his demeanour and actions, recognise his negative behaviours and make a plan for the changes he wanted to make in his life.

Within 6 months, Nim reported feeling happier and ‘a lot lighter’. He was no longer feeling constant feelings of anger and sadness. His relationship with his mum has improved and he was communicating with his friends more calmly and effectively. Nim is thinking more clearly, which has allowed him to identify a pathway for finishing school and planning to achieve this.

Read about our new strategy

In early 2025, Anglicare launched a new strategic direction for Community & Mission, Made for Connection. We believe everyone is 'made for connection' - connection with God, each other and the places we call home. While we have our individual impact, our greatest impact is seen through the lens of connection.

community

By walking side by side with people, our work is improving material wellbeing, mental wellbeing and supporting children & families to flourish. However, for us to continue our impact in the community we rely on your support.

Social impact report 2025

Anglicare’s first Social Impact Report outlines the impact of our Community Services in 2024.

Anglicare acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original and ongoing custodians of the lands and waters on which we live and work.

Inspired by the gospel of reconciliation in Jesus Christ, Anglicare's vision for reconciliation is a nation in which Australia's First Peoples are restored in dignity, respect, empowerment and opportunity.
