Anglicare believes in the dignity and worth of every person and is committed to providing compassionate, dignified care to our residents and clients.
We respect individual choice and the rights of residents and clients to make well-informed consideration of the life choices before them.
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 (NSW) (the VAD Act) allows eligible NSW residents who are suffering from an advanced and progressive condition that will soon cause death a choice to end their own life under medical supervision.
There are strict eligibility requirements, which can be found on the NSW Health website.
In line with a Biblical worldview, Anglicare believes in the dignity and worth of every person, regardless of their circumstances.
For this reason, Anglicare does not provide VAD services and is instead committed to providing life-affirming care and choice, including excellent palliative care that supports a person's physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Anglicare complies with its statutory obligations under the VAD Act. In accordance with Section 89 of that Act, Anglicare does not provide services relating to VAD.
In accordance with the Act, Anglicare Residents can access VAD services from external clinicians such as medical practitioners.
We respect individual choice and the rights of residents and clients to make well-informed consideration of the life choices before them.
Anglicare will continue to support residents and clients eligible for VAD with aged care services, including life affirming options throughout the process. Their choices and decisions will be respected.
