Young people can face many issues which may lead to them becoming disengaged from education, employment, family and community.
Our youth programs offer individual support, counselling, education and practical assistance to help young people re-establish relationships and break out of destructive cycles of living.
Reconnect is a free program offering ongoing support to young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, working with them and their families to resolve conflict and restore relationships.
Reconnect services are available to young people aged 12 to 18 years (or 12 to 21 years for those recently arrived in Australia) who are experiencing difficulties within their family, peer group or school relationships and are considering leaving home or have recently left home.
We work with each person according to their individual situation and offer a range of support, including counselling and mediation and assistance with issues such as family reconciliation, education, employment, accommodation, legal problems, health and dealing with Centrelink.
Anglicare Reconnect services are available in the following local government areas:
The service is also available in some parts of the Cumberland local government area. For referrals or enquiries please call 9835 8040 or email [email protected]
On Track (job ready) program
This free On Track (job ready) program has been developed to support students who are disengaged from school or at risk of leaving early. Currently enrolled in Years 9, 10 or 11 at high schools within the Liverpool, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Wingecarribee local government areas this program provides direct support through determining their specific current and future needs of these students, in turn preparing them for a successful transition to work (could even be a part time or casual job).
Using an individualised, person-centred case management model the program commences with a 1 day interactive group workshop, at their school or community organisation, covering a wide range of topics including where to look for jobs, what sort of ID is needed, interview skills and developing resumes.
The second part of the program consists of 1 to 1 coaching sessions (up to 3) where these young people receive individual support with developing resumes, cover letters and enrolling into short courses such as white card, barista or first aid. All ID or short course fees are paid for by the program.
This project is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.
