To get you started your home care journey, we have a quick and handy checklist that will help you navigate the process to access home care for you or a loved one.

I am eligible for home care as I meet the eligibility requirements: I am either 65+ years of age (50+ years of age for Torres Strait or Aboriginal people) or 50+ years of age and on a low income, homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Visit www.myagedcare.gov.au or call 1800 200 422 and ask for a home care assessment. My Aged Care assessors will determine whether it's an ACAT assessment for a home care package or RAS assessment for interim (CHSP) services.

Before your assessment, think about your care needs - your mobility, your ability to do household chores, medical conditions, and ability to get out and about in the community. My Aged Care assessors will assess you based on what you tell them.

Undergo an assessment. The assessment will take place either on the phone or in your home.

If you are approved for a home care package, you will need to wait for it to be assigned to you. My Aged Care may offer you interim services while you wait. If a RAS team assesses you, you will receive approval codes which are accessible immediately. Then contact Anglicare on 1300 111 278 or a discussion on how to access these services.

If you are approved for a home care package, talk to Anglicare on 1300 111 278 about the Government fee you may need to pay; called  Income Tested Care Fee which is related to your financial situation. This fee is a co-payment for care under a Home Care Package. If you are a full aged pensioner, you are normally not required to make this co-payment.

Once you have the approval for a Home Care package call Anglicare on 1300 111 278 to have a discussion on how to start your services. We will simplify the process for you.
