Rhythm of Life: A person-centred approach to aged care
Independence and choice are two of the biggest concerns that older people – and those who love them – care about as the years go by. Specifically, will they still be able to enjoy the activities and routines that make life meaningful and enjoyable?
For many, residential aged care has been perceived as a regimented lifestyle where residents are forced to adopt to the home’s structures and routines. There is also the belief that heath care facilitators will only provide the basic level of care.
This impersonalised approach ignited Anglicare's desire to do better - every senior is different, and how they live their later years should reflect this. Valuing each person as an individual means that we want to offer all residents a life with choice, independence, dignity, meaningful activities and relationships.
Anglicare is making strides to ensure aged care is personalised for every resident.
Person-centred care: The Rhythm of Life
Anglicare's version of aged care is a little different - we put our residents first.
The Rhythm of Life program allows each resident to have a say in how they would like to spend each day. This personalised care approach ensures you maintain your independence while still getting the care and support you require.
Our focus is to build a program that works best for your lifestyle, taking the time to understand your past and current interests, preferences and relationships. Just look at how the Rhythm of Life is enriching Pam’s life…
"It's a wonderful feeling - you're in your own world."
Pam believes that you’re really living when you're on the dance floor. However, when she suffered a stroke, she was told she would never dance again.
But Pam had more spirit than to let a stroke overcome her. With the help of her Anglicare Residential Care home she rediscovered her rhythm, teaching herself to talk, walk and dance again.
It's your life - you set the rhythm!
With over 20 residential aged care homes across Sydney and the Illawarra you are bound to find a home near you.
