More than food

We are made in the image of God – body, soul and spirit. That’s why feeding those in need and helping them to nourish their bodies is so important to us at Anglicare.

Everyone has to eat. And food ministry is a wonderful opportunity for you to love and serve those in need in your community.

Whether it’s a donation to help fund emergency food parcels or volunteering at a Mobile Community Pantry ministry at your church, God can do amazing things when we are obedient to his call to love others.

Finding freedom

Leah*, who is a mum of five, faces an impossible choice every day – does she pay for medical treatment or buy food for her children?

At just 33, Leah was diagnosed with glaucoma. There is a chance that in just a few years, she will be completely blind. Forced to learn the simplest tasks, like making lunch for her little ones, all over again.

“Unfortunately, I can’t afford treatment,” Leah says. “We have other medical issues in the family and seven mouths to feed."

With your support, Anglicare’s Mobile Community Pantry vans travel around Sydney, welcoming families who are doing it tough.

Leah visits her local Mobile Community Pantry every fortnight and fills a bag of groceries and fresh food worth $60, for just $12. Even an extra $50 a week can mean the difference between sight-saving medicines... or going without and risking early blindness.
But most importantly, her visits to her local Mobile Community Pantry have given Leah a community who really cares about her and her family.

Operating through your local Anglican churches and   staffed by compassionate volunteers, your Mobile Community Pantry is the love of Jesus in action.
Families like Leah’s need to know they are loved and supported now more than ever before.

Thank you for helping Anglicare and your faithful Anglican church communities keep this compassionate ministry on the road in 2023. Thank you for sharing the love of Jesus with families like Leah’s.
