What makes a good foster carer
Children need carers who enjoy spending time with them, and are able to provide a nurturing home environment. We are looking for foster carers who can care for children who may have high and complex needs due to neglect or abuse. We make the decision to approve our carers with a child’s best interest in mind.
Some things that make a great carer are:
- Ability to provide a stable, safe and caring home environment
- Availability to care for a child
- Understanding and warmth
- Good sense of humour
- Caring and compassionate nature
- Strong desire to make a difference in a child’s life
Anglicare Sydney provides ongoing carer training to help equip carers for the very important role they will play in their foster child’s life.
We welcome foster carers from different family stages and situations, and different cultural and religious backgrounds.
